Beauty does not necessarily have to be expressed on a piece of
paper or canvass. There are other materials such as eggs, bottles,
or vase that can be used to express beauty.
The beauty in these women’s works has simply proved it. The beautifully complex designs by Lita Jonathans, a Surabaya artist
who moved to Bogor, are etched on an egg or a piece of glass. Pamela, meanwhile, turns household appliances into lovely
containers. And then Irina, a Romanian-born woman who has been
living in Surabaya for 10 years, inspiresSurabaya citizens to
decorate used bottles that she bought from bottle collectors.
Determination and creativity make it possible to turn any objects
into handcrafted souvenirs and cute decorative pieces that will
entice tourists visiting Surabaya. |
Those lovely, unique creations by Lita, Pamela, and Irina that are displayed in this
exhibition will assert that artistic work is simply borderless.
